La Fresque

Depuis maintenant plusieurs semaines, les passants de la rue Richard Lenoir peuvent observer sur la façade de l’Artistic Théâtre une fresque évoquant les souvenirs d’un temps où nos théâtres étaient ouverts, où leurs artistes jouaient sur les planches et où les spectateurs les acclamaient. « Depuis le début de la pandémie, nous nous adaptons aux directives gouvernementales concernant l'ouverture des théâtres. Nous nous sommes équipés pour recevoir le public en toute sécurité. Nous avons malgré cela dû interrompre les représentations, puis les avons reprises pour quelques soirées avant de baisser à nouveau le rideau. Alors qu'Anne-Marie Lazarini commence sa prochaine création, et en espérant la partager avec nos spectateurs, nous explorons les possibilités de tisser d'autres iens avec eux."

The Collage

"For several weeks, on rue Richard Lenoir, on the facade of the Artistic Theater, passers-by can admire a fresco evoking memories of a time when our theaters were open, where their artists played on stage and where the spectators cheered them. “Since the start of the pandemic, we have been adapting to government directives concerning the opening of theaters. We have equipped ourselves to receive the public in complete safety. Despite this, we had to interrupt the performances, then, resumed them for a few evenings before lowering the curtain again. As Anne-Marie Lazarini begins her next creation, and hoping to share it with our viewers, we explore the possibilities of forging other links with them.”

La situation que nous vivons a donc joué un rôle important dans la création de ce collage. J’ai eu envie de redonner vie aux abords du Théâtre et d'évoquer l’attente des spectateurs, de façon très visuelle. L’idée de départ est donc de figurer de façon réaliste une file de spectateurs. Certains sont masqués, d’autres ne le sont pas. Nous sommes à la fois dans une représentation libre du réel et dans une vision très humaine de la situation dans laquelle nous nous trouvons tous.

Pour imaginer la façon dont je pourrais afficher ces images au mur, je me suis inspirée des techniques utilisées par les street-artistes (j'aime beaucoup le travail de J.R., bien sûr, certains passants ont vu un clin d’œil à Agnès Varda, celui de Levalet, magnifique). Et pour la solidité du collage, je me suis laissée conseiller par des colleurs (et colleuses !) parfois plus engagées. »

The situation we are living in played an important role in the creation of this collage. I wanted to bring the surroundings of the Theater back to life and evoke the spectators' expectations, in a very visual way. The starting point is therefore to realistically depict a line of spectators. Some are masked, others are not. We are both in a free representation of reality and in a very human vision of the situation in which we all find ourselves.

To imagine how I could display these images on the wall, I was inspired by the techniques used by street-artists (I really like JR's work, of course; some passers-by saw a nod to Agnès Varda , that of Levalet, magnificent). And for the solidity of the bonding, I have allowed myself to be advised by some more committed artists."
