Notre histoire collective peut-elle encore servir d'exemple et de modèle? Comment ce moment de mémoire pourrait-il donner à notre vie collective notre boussole universelle? En ce début du 21e siecle, le fanatisme voué à une personne n'a plus de prise, n'est-ce pas? Je suis d'abord citoyenne du monde, puis européenne, puis française, 

Pourquoi commémorer la Grande Guerre ? Thomas Wieder, journaliste au "Monde", répondait le jeudi 7 novembre 2013 :

La commémoration de la fin de la première guerre mondiale peut être envisagée sous deux angles : il peut s'agir de célébrer une victoire, mais également la paix. En cela, ce souvenir de 1914 ne conduit pas nécessairement à rejouer l'affrontement séculaire entre la France et l'Allemagne, mais au contraire à commémorer un événement fondateur qui a débouché, dans les années qui ont suivi l'Armistice, à la première tentative de dépassement des conflits nationaux, au travers de la création de la Société des Nations. Même si la montée du nazisme et la crise des années 1930 ont mis un terme à cette première tentative, même s'il a fallu attendre l'après-seconde guerre mondiale pour accoucher de ce nouveau monde, c'est bien au lendemain de la première guerre mondiale qu'ont été posés, d'une part, les jalons de ce qu'on appelait alors la nécessité de l'arbitrage en matière de relations internationales et, d'autre part, ceux de la construction européenne...En 2012, l'objet du 11-Novembre a été élargi, puisque, désormais, c'est un jour consacré à l'hommage aux morts de toutes les guerres dans lesquelles la France a été engagée...

Le 11/11/18 à 11h00, les cloches sonneront en pleine volée pour célébrer le centième anniversaire de l’armistice de la 1ère guerre mondiale. Ce même jour, la France invitera tous les chefs d'Etat et de gouvernement des nations belligérantes pour une cérémonie internationale. N'avons nous pas progressé depuis cent ans? Une revue simple des dirigeants dans le monde, nous laisse pétrifiée. La construction européenne est mise à l'épreuve, si ce n'est en danger.

Alors pour mieux comprendre mon pays natale, je me lance dans de longues lectures pour mieux comprendre l'élite française, européenne, internationale.

J'ai commencé par les écrits d' Ezra Suleiman pour point de départ sur la France. Dans un de ses derniers livres en français: "Schizophrénies françaises" publié en 2008, il regarde la France depuis l'intérieur avec un regard extérieur. Ezra Suleiman, un pied de chaque côté de l'Atlantique, connaît bien le fonctionnement de l'élite française. Tantot brillant ou dérangeant, comme les meilleures analyses de la société française, on se sent comparé injustement. Dix ans plus tard, dans une conjoncture internationale des plus instable, face à une recrudescence du fanatisme dans tous les genres, quand l'absurdité et l'incongrue relachent notre mise en garde, quand le fascisme se fait présentable sans un hoquet de nos élites, est-ce qu'un mouvement populaire et international peut nous réveiller avant qu'il ne soit trop tard?

Can our collective history still provide an example and a model? Can this moment of memory serve as a universal compass? Now, at the beginning of the 21st century, fanaticism exhibited by one person has no more grip, correct? I am first a citizen of the world, then European, then French.

Why commemorate the Great War? Thomas Wieder, journalist at "Le Monde", when asked this question in 2013, replied:

The commemoration of the end of the First World War can be viewed from two angles: it can be a celebration of victory, or also peace. This memory of 1914 does not necessarily lead to replaying the secular confrontation between France and Germany, but, on the contrary, to commemorating an event that led, in the years following the Armistice, to the first attempt to overcome international conflicts, through the creation of the League of Nations. Even though the rise of Nazism and the crisis of the 1930s put an end to this first attempt, even if it was not until the post-Second World War to give birth to this new world, it was the day after the First World War that they were laid, on the one hand, the milestones of what was then called the need for arbitration in international relations and, on the other hand, those of the European construction ...In 2012, the purpose of 11-November was expanded, since then, it is a day dedicated to the tribute to the dead of all the wars in which France was engaged...

On November 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., the bells will ring in full flight to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the armistice of the First World War. That same day, France will invite all the heads of state and government of the warring nations for an international ceremony. To better understand my native country, France, and its "elite", I began extensive reading to better understand the European and international leaders

I began with the writings of Ezra Suleiman on France as a starting point. In one of his latest books in French: "Schizophrénies Françaises," published in 2008, he looks at France from the inside and outside. With one foot on each side of the Atlantic, he understands the functioning of the French elite. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes disturbing, like the best analyses of French society, one can feel unfairly compared to the United States. Ten years later, in an unstable international conjuncture, faced with an upsurge of fanaticism throughout the world, when absurdity and the incongruous leaves us off-guard, when fascism is presentable without a hiccup of our elites, we ponder the question if a popular and international movement can wake us up before it's too late?
